In SHS in San Nicholas III, they offer the Academic Track it includes Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS), and General Strand (GAS). The school also offers TVL track for those learners want to enhance their skills. This includes the Home Economics (H.E) and Information, Communication and Technology (ICT). Usually, people think that being in the General Academic Strand means that they are the learners who are undecided on what course will they take for their college. But little did they know that being in GAS help us to find out what are the strength and weakness that we can develop and use it for choosing the correct course for college. Those students who enroll in the General Academic Strand in SHS in San Nicholas III, they are fully equipped with knowledge that they need for them to develop their skills. The school provides excellent facilities and environment which are needed by the GAS learners for them to become responsible individuals in our society. As a graduating student from the General Academic Strand of SHS in San Nicholas III, I can prove that the school enhances my reading, writing, and speaking skills. In short, the school groomed us to become professionals who serve the people through ideas and communication. The school General Strand offers 15 core subjects. It is for Language, Humanities, Communication, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Philosophy, and P.E and Health. They also provide the 7 contextualized subjects and we have mixed specialized subjects coming from the other three strands. This means that our school provides us with quality education for our successful career in the future. Based on my experience as GAS learners in SHS in San Nicholas III, it is not very easy to study under this strand. It is just like another strand that needs effort, critical thinking, and analyzing problems. There is also a lot of paperwork, assignments, sleepless night because of never-ending role play, quizzes, recitation, and performance tasks. They also teach us in solving real-life situation problems like what we do in our Disaster Risk Reduction and Management subject. We study necessities and precautionary measures during a disaster. As GAS learners we are not just equipped with mental and spiritual knowledge, they also teach us to become physically ready. Like fun games and lectures during our P.E subject. Most of our activities involve communication and cooperation which is needed in real life. Being a GAS student, you will find throughout your journey on what field you excel and what field you are not. Some of my classmates excel in arts, creating ideas, making sculptures, and painting. Some of them are gifted in making robots and solving math problems. Some of them are very good at managing teams, creating plans for projects, and excel in leadership. This part of the journey will help you to determine what you want in your college. It is indeed that we have to face many challenges but at the end of the day, these challenges that we encounter help us to what we became now. The school together with our outstanding teachers helps us to develop both interpersonal and intrapersonal skills that we have got. I am very proud that I experienced studying in SHS in San Nicholas III, not just because of their facilities but also on how they provide us with what standard education is. We experience every day the great ways of our beloved teachers on how to mold us and become a very responsible individual in our society. We are very lucky because even though it is hard for them to go from one building to another, and every day of stepping up and down in the staircase they never get tired to teach us. They are always present and give us the lectures that we need. That is why we treated them with so much respect because they are the ones who instill us with the knowledge regardless of how hard to teach hundreds of students in a day. The SHS in San Nicholas is indeed very competent when it comes to nurturing their students. Their facilities, their teachers, and even the way they care for us is very warm. It is indeed like our second home. I am proud to say that I'd become one of the students produced by SHS in San Nicholas III. Before I enrolled and entered General Academic Strand without any ideas on what course should I take, now that I will step out in my Alma mater, I am very thankful that they help me to clear my pathway to where should I go, and walk with confidence in life. Embracing the knowledge I gained throughout my senior high school life in SHS in San Nicholas III. Written by: Cherie Anne I. Apuya Edited by: Arthur Alexis S. Bugayong |
