Humanity is now again being challenged. Covid-19 is a new disease that is highly contagious and can spread via droplet transmission. First as a breakout from China, now developed as a pandemic as it is currently affecting most of the countries and takes thousands of lives each day. As a countermeasure, our president declared an Enhanced Community Quarantine on March 16, 2020. Wherein the country is under a state of a lockdown and encourages the citizens to stay at their homes. Social gatherings are greatly discouraged, even going to school Originally, the students still have a month for completing their final requirement but due to the lockdown, students are given an almost early vacation. According to our DepEd Secretary, Leonor Briones, there are "uncertainties when it comes to school opening" because of Covid-19 halting many social activities. This raised a concern among schools and that's why an alternative method is being considered to be used to teach learners, online learning system. To make this relevant for Nicholasians, what if Online Learning System is to be implemented to SHS in San Nicholas III? Online Learning System seems to be the ideal method to this day but still there are still issues that needs to be taken into account. In public schools, there are still students who are less fortunate that are seriously going to be missing out a lot to this method. Most students will use mobile phones for this method, their phones are now their own virtual space. Exposed are many things that interests them, distraction is very common. The most difficult issue forseen on this method is spotting students who cheats during the exams. However, with minimal considerations, Online Learning System is still a substancial solution to this new norm. It will greatly benefit the learner's safety. The percentage of contracting the disease will be lessened. This method seems very promising because almost every student owns a mobile phone and has an access to the internet. Idle time while undergoing quarantine will be finally used in a meaningful way. It will definitely help students get back on track and function as if they are still in an actual school, exercising the use of knowledge. It is even efficient because almost all of the applications used for requirements are now at the grab of our hands, so it is effective in a way that every student will be spending less resources unlike with the usual pen and paper style. Given that most of the school that already adapted this kind of system in their curriculum, even before the quarantine, acquired great results, it is not impossible if SHS in San Nicolas III would resort to adapt such technology and expect for the results to be the same. As the school takes pride with their students trait as "palaban", surely Nicholasians will take this new method, head-on. Though the negativity presented seems to weigh more than the former but with the proper adjustments and implementations of rules, Online Learning System could really happen in SHS in San Nicholas III. Nevertheless, the matter is currently being discussed by DepEd officials, Online Learning System seems to be the most strong candidate but there are still a lot of improvement and adjustments that should be done for this method to be applicable for all the learners.
